Westend Seniors Activity
Centre is a volunteer based organization, we are very fortunate to have so
many dedicated hardworking volunteers. Volunteering is fun and it is very
essential to our organization. Please consider volunteering in any of
the following areas:

Board of Directors
a governance board, not involved in the day-to-day operations |
|
Board Committees
(each is chaired by a Board member and consists of
a minimum of three members-at-large): Program, Finance, Personnel,
Facilities & Maintenance, Outreach, New Building Construction and Rentals |
Committees Reporting
to the Program Committee

Special
Events
plans teas, fashion shows, dances, concerts, etc. |
| Fundraising
|
| finds/implements money-raising campaigns for
special projects |
Advocacy and Public Relations
advocates on behalf of seniors; promotes your
Centre and the activities we offer. |
Birthday Party
arranges a
monthly party |
|
Social
organizes Pot Luck
Suppers, Hot Lunches, and Bingos |
|
Phoning
informs members about
the upcoming month’s events |
|
Planning
& Maintenance Committee
make suggestions on how to improve our
facility |
|
Travel
plans enjoyable trips in
and around the city. |
|
Outreach
supports the work done by the Outreach Worker by assisting in
program implementation. |
|
New Members
arranges a monthly
orientation and follow-up on non-renewing members. |
Non-Committee
Volunteer Positions

Coffee Hosts
ensure that the
coffee’s on, the kitchen is tidy, and bathrooms are adequately supplied |
|
Kitchen Volunteers
help prepare lunches and help with taking
cash during lunch |
|
Green Thumbs
ensure that indoor plants are cared for, lawns and outdoor
plants are cared for |
|
Office Support
help with
reception duties, photocopying, faxing, etc. |
|
Set-up/Tear-down Support
help
with setting up tables, chairs, etc. for events/meetings and returning them to
storage afterward |
|
Library Helpers
ensure that the
library is kept current and tidy |
|
Miscellaneous
help at events
such as bake sales, white elephant sales, seniors fair; model at fashion shows;
pick up pre-arranged donations from donors |
