The Westend Seniors Activity Centre was founded as the Edmonton Self Starters Organization in 1978. 
For more than 25 years, this organization has supported seniors in west Edmonton providing social, recreation, health, fitness and special interest activities to help seniors remain active and vital.

Westend Seniors gives seniors age 55 and up the opportunity to lead an active, healthy lifestyle. 
Every day the Centre is filled with seniors taking part in educational, recreational, and social programs - everything from art classes and card tournaments, to aerobics and computer classes.  Most importantly, Westend Seniors brings seniors together, giving them a place to socialize and share experiences, and making them part of a supportive community.

Our Mission
Our mission is "to contribute to the healthy aging of seniors by providing opportunities for involvement and active living".

Membership
A nominal membership fee of $25.00 per year qualifies you for participation in all our programs, activities and services.  Our calendar year runs from January to December.  This nominal fee also allows us to enter you into our database, to update you on new programs and events and allows us to produce our newsletter.

Engage - Education, recreation and social activities at the Centre.
Seniors are given the opportunity to engage in a variety of classes, as well as recreational and social activities.  The most popular activities are fitness and dance classes, crafts and hobbies and computer classes.

Extend - Drop-in clubs, bridge, and walking clubs. 
For seniors who want to extend their involvement, the Centre is home to a number of special interest clubs that meet on a regular basis.  These clubs allow seniors to enjoy activities as part of a close-knit group.

Enhance- Social interaction and making connections.
The real value of the Centre is its ability to enhance the everyday lives of seniors by bringing them together to socialize, share experiences and connect to a caring, supportive community.

Energize- Volunteerism in and out of the Centre.
The Westend Seniors Activity Centre is driven by the energy of its members, who volunteer their time and services to the operation of the Centre, as well as to the community.

Expand - Community Outreach and Activities.
The Centre is committed to expanding its services within the community by providing assistance and outreach services to high risk seniors.  This program also connects with schools and agencies in the community by hosting special events and collaborating on projects and initiatives.
